Blackwater Bridge is located on the N2 just North of Monaghan Town, Co. Monaghan. The structure carries the N2 over the Blackwater River. Blackwater Bridge comprises an original three span (4.26m, 4.21m and 4.23m) masonry arch structure extended on the downstream side with a three span (4.49m, 4.24m and 4.28m) reinforced concrete slab structure. The entire bridge will be replaced with a new three span reinforced concrete slab, fully integral at the new abutments and semi-integral over the new piers. To accommodate future hydraulic capacity requirements, the new bridge will be set higher than the existing structure, requiring a realignment of the vertical geometry of the N2, for approximately 150m on either side of the bridge. Scope of work; Site set-up, including all compound and laydown areas; Site clearance works; Identify and protect/divert all existing services; Replace Entire existing bridge Construct a temporary Bridge and through road. Mass concrete trench fill foundations for substructure. Construction of concrete cantilever abutments. Reinforced concrete wall piers. Resurfacing works. Installation of road markings and traffic signs; Landscaping works; Clean-up site and demobilise; All temporary works associated with the project e.g. traffic management, trench supports etc;
