One of the biggest cranes in Ireland was needed to lift the arch into position. The bridge deck sections will then be installed and the bridge will nearly be complete.
The proposed bridge will remove the physical divide between the town centre and our residential areas, schools, sport and leisure facilities and churches. It will be extensively used by the local community, creating new access routes, link our communities together and improve health and wellbeing. The bridge will be seen as a landmark throughout the town for both local residents and visitors providing an important link across the river for pedestrians and cyclists, creating better access to facilities.
